Dental crowns and bridges restore the physiognomic, phonetic and masticatory functions in case they are affected by massive coronary destructions, failed aesthetic restorations and hypodontia (the absence of one or several teeth).
The crown is the prosthetic element wrapping the polished tooth or a DCR (corono radicular device), accordingly.
A bridge is made of two supporting crowns and one bridge body, replacing one or several missing teeth.
The need to use ceramic in prosthetic restorations is given by the particular properties of this material: the great resistance to wear, superior to that of the dental tissue and its peculiar aesthetic properties.
The metallic frame (infrastructure) is made of a CR-Co alloy, which is finally covered in a layer of colloidal gold to reduce the risk of metallic oxides causing the apparition of the "gingival border" (the gum turns violet), but also of gingival disorders (inflammations, bleeding).
