Tooth whitening
This method gives a range of up to 12 hues on the VITA key of enamel colour, affected by coffee and tobacco staining, and iatrogenic food colours staining, and even severe staining caused by tetracycline treatments (where a whitening of up to 5 hues can be obtained on the VITA key).
The result lasts for at least 2 years and 5 years maximum and is influenced by the patient’s feeding habits and lifestyle.
Tooth whitening is necessary when chromatic defects are severe; several-hued teeth or dark-hued teeth, inadequate filled teeth, or teeth changing the enamel hue due to coffee, smoking etc.
Professional tooth whitening is performed in one 30-minute session; it involves a 35% hydrogen peroxide gel, which is activated under the action of a special-spectrum source of light releasing oxygen into the enamel layers, thus performing the whitening up to 12 hues on the VITA colour key.
After the whitening procedure is completed, restrictions from coloured food and drinks need to be followed 24 hours only.
